Hands in the Air: a Labor Day poem

Photo by Martin Fisch. Licensed via Creative Commons.

Your hands pick
My family's vegetables
Your hands weld
My building's rafters
Your hands paint
The offices on the second floor
Your hands cook
For the tourists
Your hands turn
Wood into guitars

We've met
And we haven't met

You brung our city
One day we'll dance
